For the graduates of Upper Arlington High School’s Class of 1994, their alma mater played a pivotal role in shaping their lives. Now, 30 years later, they have found a way to give back in a meaningful and lasting way.
The Story Behind the Fund
It all started with a small group of classmates who wanted to honor the school that had provided them with an outstanding education, lifelong friendships, and a strong foundation for their futures. They decided to proudly become the first class in the 90’s to establish an endowment fund through UA+Ed, the Upper Arlington Education Foundation, to support future generations of students. Their vision was simple but impactful: to create a sustainable source of funding that could provide resources, scholarships, and opportunities for students at UAHS for years to come.
As the Class of 1994 approached its reunion in July of 2024, word of the initiative spread among their reunion plans. The reunion became more than just a celebration—it turned into a call to action. Classmates enthusiastically rallied behind the cause, contributing to the fund and ensuring its growth. The generosity and commitment of the class transformed the endowment into a powerful legacy raising almost $12,000 demonstrating their gratitude for the school that had played such an important role in their lives.
Creating Lasting Impressions
The Class of 1994 Endowment Fund at UA+Ed will help provide enhanced educational experiences for students at Upper Arlington High School. “We wanted to give back in a way that would have a lasting impact,” said Megan Potts, one of the class reunion planners. “Our hope is that this fund will support students in ways we could have never imagined back when we were walking the halls of UAHS.” They are excited to see what their fund supports this year and look forward to watching it grow with donations as they gather together for future reunion and events. "During my years as a UAHS student, I was oblivious as to how many activities weren't funded by school district funding. As a parent, I have become keenly aware of the various fundraising initiatives that support student programming. I've seen firsthand how the UA+Ed has helped to enrich the lives of our students. So I was happy to help educate my UAHS '94 classmates about this opportunity to give back to the schools that started us on the right track," shared Jordan Braunstein, another reunion planner involved in the creation of the fund.
Looking Ahead: A Bright Future for Upper Arlington Schools
These inspired discussions about giving back to current students foster a culture of alumni-driven philanthropy. The Class of 1994 hopes that their endowment will not only benefit students but also encourage future alumni to find ways to give back to the school that shaped them.
